Size Guide

Choosing the right size for formal gowns and dresses requires understanding how garment measurements relate to your body. Because our collection includes structured silhouettes, mermaid cuts, and flowing maxi styles, fit can vary significantly between designs. This guide explains how to measure yourself accurately and how to use the specific size charts provided on each product page to make a confident selection.

Understanding Body vs. Garment Measurements

It is important to distinguish between your body measurements and the finished product measurements listed on product pages.

  • Body Measurements: These are the dimensions of your actual body (bust, waist, hips). You need these to compare against the size chart.
  • Garment Measurements: These are the dimensions of the dress itself. In structured gowns (like our beaded corset or mermaid styles), the garment measurements may be very close to body measurements with minimal ease, whereas flowing styles may have more room.

Always check if the size chart on a specific product page lists body or garment measurements. If not specified, assume they are body measurements but verify by comparing them to your own data.

How to Measure Yourself

For the best results, use a soft measuring tape and wear the undergarments you plan to wear with the dress. Keep the tape snug but not tight, and ensure it is parallel to the floor.

Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your chest. Keep the tape level and do not pull it too tight, as this can compress the fabric and give an inaccurate reading.

Waist

Find your natural waistline, which is typically the narrowest part of your torso, usually located above the belly button and below the rib cage. Measure around this point while keeping your stomach relaxed.

Hips

Measure around the fullest part of your hips, usually about 7-9 inches below your natural waist. Stand with your feet together to ensure an accurate measurement.

Using Product-Specific Size Charts

Every product page includes a detailed size chart relevant to that specific item. Because our dresses range from XS to 3XL, and some styles start at S, always refer to the chart on the product page you are viewing.

When comparing your measurements to the chart:

  • Structured & Mermaid Styles: If the dress has a slim, tailored fit (like our 3D Floral Appliqué Lace Mermaid Gown or Beaded Corset Gown), and you are between sizes, we generally recommend sizing up to ensure comfort through the hips and bust.
  • Flowing & Maxi Styles: For dresses with a loose drape or halter neck (like our Boho Backless Halter Maxi), the fit is more forgiving. Focus on the bust and waist measurements for the top portion, as the skirt will likely flow freely.
  • Manual Measurement Variance: Please note that manual measurements may vary by 0.4–1.2 inches.
